My Grade 2s and I are a big fan of Lloyd's 'Allergic'. I was eagerly anticipating this one, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint me. The main character, Avery Lee, gives us the inside scoop on being one of seven siblings in a Korean American family, and we get to see firsthand the unique relationships she has with each sibling. ‘Although Squished' truly stands out from other middle-grade graphic novels, my Grade 2s loved it. It focused on the ups and downs of a big family. Chaos and disagreements aside, a big take take away was - family is always there to catch you when you fall, and the delightful illustrations and relatable characters will keep you glued to this charming tale regardless of your age.
