Alone Like Me

“Alone Like Me”, by Rebecca Evan is a book that beautifully captures the essence of friendship and resilience. It tells the story of two girls in China facing the challenges of city life without residency permits. Despite their obstacles their bond grows stronger highlighting the importance of companionship.

Rebecca Evans illustrations, created with pencil and watercolor are stunning. The vibrant colors of the girls against the background create a contrast that pulls readers into their tale.

While grounded in culture the themes of bullying, loneliness and the search for friendship resonate globally making this story relatable to children around the world.

No doubt that this is not an #ownvoices book,

“Alone Like Me” goes beyond a narrative; it serves as a tribute to human strength and the positive impact of companionship. A recommended read, for both kids and grown ups.
