Because when one girl is on the rise, it means everyone else is, too.

This week, my Grade 3 girls have been facing some friendship challenges, and I wanted to remind them of something powerful: We don’t tear each other down—we rise together.

So, I read Girls on the Rise by Amanda Gorman, a beautiful and uplifting poem about standing up, supporting each other, and knowing that our strength is shared. When one of us shines, we all shine brighter.

I told my girls that this line—this truth—should be their daily mantra. Say it, believe it, live it. Because they ARE powerful, and when they lift each other up, there’s no limit to what they can do.

Amanda Gorman’s Girls on the Rise is a lyrical, empowering call to action for young girls everywhere. With stunning illustrations by Loveis Wise, the book reminds us that strength is not just individual—it’s collective. Gorman’s words encourage girls to be fearless, to support one another, and to believe in their own power. This is more than a picture book; it’s a message of hope, resilience, and unity. A must-read for every classroom!
