One Girl

I enjoyed reading this lyrical book with muted illustrations. Andrea Beaty and Dow Phumiruk's message to all readers - It takes one child to light up a spark for the love of knowledge. My inquisitive class kids were asking lots of questions about the girl's journey discovering the magic of a book.

They were able to make lots of connection with the “Girl and the Box”. They loved the idea that the girl was given the opportunity to create her own path to spread the joy for learning.

Another image that wowed them is how she is able to attend school and share the wonder of stories with her classmates that eventually gives given her the inspiration to write her own books.
