The House Without Lights: A glowing celebration of joy, warmth, and home By Reem Faruqi and Nadia Alam
Reem Faruqi has done it again! Her gentle storytelling shines a light on the beauty of embracing diversity and the warmth of human connection. This heartwarming book explores how lights—from Diwali diyas to Hanukkah menorahs to Christmas trees—unite us in celebration, especially during the holiday season.

Reading this with my class on the last day of school sparked meaningful conversations about how joy and togetherness are shared across cultures. We also reflected on how Eid, with its festive lanterns and glowing decorations, beautifully adds to this tapestry of light-filled celebrations. Reem’s thoughtful narrative is a perfect way to teach children about different traditions while celebrating the universal spirit of love and unity. A must-read this holiday season!
