I managed to get this impactful picture book to read to my class during remote learning. Written by Mượn Thị Văn and illustrated by Victo Ngai, this amazing book is one that young children could easily relate to.
The story line was filled with arduous journey of a refugee. The children in class were sympathetic towards the young girl and her family leaving home quickly on a small boat to find a new home - longing for a safe place to live. A great heartrending story that teaches children to empathise with refugees and a great book for units on immigration, and family history.
