Hilwa’s Gift” is an absolute treasure—a beautiful, creative story that had me wanting to sing and dance beneath ancient olive trees.

It captures the spirit and power of storytelling, weaving together family bonds, tradition, and the deep connection to land and nature.

Through the loving bond between a grandson, his grandfather, and their favorite olive tree, Safa Suleiman reminds us how traditions can keep families—and generations—tightly connected.

This story touched me deeply—I’ve always had a soft spot for books that celebrate the bond between grandparents and grandchildren. Watching my own girls interact with their grandmother, and seeing the way knowledge and love pass between generations, made Hilwa’s Gift feel even more special.

Radiating pure joy from the very first page, this book gently honors the story of Palestine and the importance of community, memory, and respecting nature.

A heartfelt reminder that sometimes, the greatest gifts are the simplest moments shared under an old, beloved tree.
